The Night Circus
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called “Le Cirque des Reves,” and it is only open at night.
5 out of 5 stars!
The Circus of Dreams or the Cirque de reves has amazing attraction : A blooming garden made of ice, acrobats soaring with no safety net the crowd watching directly beneath, a cloud maze where people who get lost can just jump off the path and land on the feather soft clouds that we imagined as a child.
The Night Circus is a story of wonder. Avid and lengthy description that hold you enraptured rather then bored at the amount of time spent describing objects, sights, and smells. My senses were tingling when I read this and I found myself fully immersed in the luxurious enchantment of the story.
Celia and Marcus are set against each other in a competition as children, they don’t know they are each others competitors, they don’t know exactly what the challenge involves or how it is scored only what there guardians tell them, which isn’t much.
Celia and Marcus are illusionists, magicians, enchanters. There is no smoke and mirrors, the magic they do is real and it’s only the crowds limitations and beliefs that allow them to think it’s merely elaborate tricks Celia preforms and special designs that allow such amazing creations and joys to exist in the night circus.
One of the things that really sold me on this book is in between the chapters is a 1 page description of what your doing, it reminded me a lot of Goosebumps choose your ending books, the Author includes the reader describing the scenes we are walking into and what we’re doing when we visit the circus. There is only a handful of pages that include us but it made the story all the more real and amazing to me.
A truly magical read that makes me appreciate the Author’s skill and re ignite why I love reading and remind me that words are the most beautiful things in the world and stories have a magic over us all.
Favorite quotes:
“I am haunted by the ghost of my father, I think that should allow me to quote Hamlet as much as I please.”
“I would have written you, myself, if I could put down in words everything I want to say to you. A sea of ink would not be enough.’ ‘But you built me dreams instead.”
My feels :
I loved it, it’s just so goddamn good, I was in the constant state of marveling at the magic and imagery in this book and while I could of read this faster I choose to savor it and linger over paragraphs to really absorb the themes and description.
Have you read this? What did you think?
I feel like I’m more in love with the writing then I am the characters but If I must choose Poppet and Widget were my favorite.
I WANT TO READ IT SO BADDDD

I’m glad I read it right away, I tend to buy books and then forget about them or put them off for ages and then wonder why I didn’t read it sooner XD
