Me Before You – By Jojo Moyes

Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.

What Lou doesn’t know is she’s about to lose her job or that knowing what’s coming is what keeps her sane.

Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he’s going to put a stop to that.

What Will doesn’t know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they’re going to change the other for all time

You know when you see a book that’s hyped and your a bit weary? Well I always go in hoping for the best, what can I say :how-to-supanova-guide-pop-culture-expo-adelaide-abed1.gif

I finally read this book everyone and I mean everyone has been raving about and It was beautiful, just so so beautiful.

1. The Characters

They are on point, they’re like that time your eyebrows were looking on point and you got your liquid eyeliner perfect the first time this may of never happened in the history of woman kind but you could imagine how good it would be if it did.  Lou is a strong, caring, funny and a little bit sad adult and it’s hard not to love her.

Will is full of quick wit, snarky comments, great advice that you don’t want to take because that would mean admitting he is right and a thoughtfulness people can only have when they’ve suffered a huge trauma.

2. The Laughs!

There is a lot of Dark humor and I found myself laughing a fair bit through out this. Lou is really fun, her jokes and even just some of the things she says had me chuckling along. Will made me laugh with his quick comments and also the first time we met him! I loved it when Lou told Will were to shove it and didn’t tip toe around things.

3. The story.

It’s a beautiful story that is sad and hopeful, full of life, loss, love and hope. Me before you has gone straight to my favorites. This book evoked so much emotion in me and caused me to put myself in everyone’s shoes, see all points of view and understand that life is hard but you should work for it and live it to it’s fullest.

4. The feeling when you put it down:

I’m full of wanderlust and adventure, renewed dreams and spontaneity. I feel like I should go get on a plane right now or runaway for the weekend, book a course and become more active in life.

I takes a bit for me to come out of my cocoon especial since I’ve been renovating every weekend, I feel my life’s become a bit stale and needs a shake up, I get like this every couple of years, it usually results in me changing jobs or starting project of some sort. I am contemplating changing careers to do something a bit more bookish and this read has pushed me over the edge. I’m going to start looking at new job opportunities right away (even if it is a second job or an online course).

Any how enough with my rambling Me before you gets a

5/5 stars from me and I can’t wait to see the movie trailer!

Have you read this? What did you think?

P.S I did water up but it was a happy, sad tear mixed with the satisfaction of finishing a great book.

    1. Oh I just watched the trailer and the cast looks fantastic! I’ll have to find someone to drag along with me and not tell them it’s sad so I can watch them cry in the cinemas! 🙂

    1. Really? I may read it then but maybe not right away. I like the idea of Lou fulfilling all her dreams I’ll probably read the next one after the Movie so the story will be fresh in my mind 😊
