The Unexpected Everything By Morgan Matson

Andie had it all planned out.

When you are a politician’s daughter who’s pretty much raised yourself, you learn everything can be planned or spun, or both. Especially your future.
Important internship? Check.
Amazing friends? Check.
Guys? Check (as long as we’re talking no more than three weeks).
But that was before the scandal. Before having to be in the same house with her dad. Before walking an insane number of dogs. That was before Clark and those few months that might change her whole life.

Because here’s the thing—if everything’s planned out, you can never find the unexpected.
And where’s the fun in that?

This book was not only freaking adorable with Andie being a dog walker and having some really awesome friends but it was hilarious.

I love books that can get me to laugh. Not just laughing in my had and smiling on the outside but real laughter. The Unexpected Everything did just that and more. I got the giggles, I was trying not to laugh at my book on the train and couldn’t stop myself from emitting a strange burst of air sound that turned into a full-blown laugh.

The people on the train that see me regularly must think I’m a crazy person

So what is this story about? Other than a giant awesome fluffiness perfect summer read that is?

Andie is a congressman daughter and had lost her mother 5 years ago to Cancer. Since then she’s been guarded to say the least but she has a fantastic group friends and no shortage of cute boys that she never sticks with for long. This is her Summer with friends and a lot of great stuff happens. Want to know what great stuff? Read the book XD
Morgan Matson really nails everything I want in a contemporary this book. In my review of Since You’ve Been Gone the only complaint I had was I would have liked to see more Family included and guess what this book had in spades? An honest Family life

Thank you!

Family

Andie’s relationship with her Dad grows and changes, watching their moments were heartwarming and sad sometimes. A lot of YA has the “missing” parents but this book had great parental relationship and Andie’s Dad was a great character.

Friendship

Whats my favorite thing in a contemporary? Friendship. Oh my god, where do I find myself a group like this? Waffle breakfasts once a week, challenges, and scavenger hunts? I want to go on a scavenger hunt so badly.

Cameos

I loved all the appearances of the Since You’ve Been Gone characters and being in the same town. If you haven’t read Since You’ve been gone I recommend reading it before The Unexpected everything. Its amazing and there are a few kind of spoilers in The Unexpected Everything.

 Clark

Clark is such a great character, sensitive, intelligent, and a total nerd can someone please tell Andie to step away because I want him for my own.

Andie

My one down point in this book actually was Andie. I didn’t connect with her very well. I just feel like she was in a different world to me, I still enjoyed her as our MC but I felt more invested in all the other characters.

Sorry Andie but sometime I just wanted to shake you and ask WHY?!

Also do you like inside jokes? I do haha My review in emojis:

4 out of 5 stars

Have you read this? Or anything else my Morgan Matson? I still have to read Second Chance Summer and I plan on it really soon 😀

I recommend this to all contemporary lovers and people with a sweet spot for the perfect nerdy boy romance 🙂

** Also can I just say that I actually love Kristen Stewart? I think she’s gorgeous and yes she wasn’t the most emotive actress in Twilight but I don’t think she deserved all the crap the press gave her.

  1. Great review. I can picture you in the train laughing :-)I am one of those weird people who laugh or cry when I see people doing the same so I guess if I was the train with you, Id be giggling too making us the two crazy people there 🙂 I don’t think I have ever read any book that was particularly funny. This does sound great.Cute pic of the book and the dog.
