6 Months of 2016 has come and gone and with it a whole heap of awesome books! I have read a total of 93 books (around 15 of these were novellas).

June has been an okay reading month for me the start of the month was rocky with me nearly spiraling down into the deep pit of book slumpary but luckily it picked up and boy did it pick up. let’s get into it!

Winger By Andrew Smith

I gave Winger a 2/5 stars. I didn’t like the plot, I dis-liked the Main character and I felt the ending wasn’t well done. I know a lot of people love this book but sadly I just didn’t.

 

 

The Sudden Appearance of Hope By Claire North

Okay so I admit I probably shouldn’t have picked this up after the disappointment of Winger. I just couldn’t get into this story I felt disconnected from the MC and it was a slow read. I gave it a 2/5 as well!

Killer Game/The Assassins Game by Kirsty McKay

What would you know I gave this book a 2/5 stars. Wow the start of my month was horrendous! This book could have been so much better then it was. A classic case of promising all and delivering nothing.

 

 

Cutter Boy By Cristy Watson

Cutter Boy had a lot of premise but didn’t follow through for me. I felt this book was written to fill the gap in books about boys who self harm and didn’t actually explore what it was all about. 3/5 Stars.

 

 

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine’s home for Peculiar children wasn’t what I expected it to be. This book is for one absolutely gorgeous. The photos included through out are actually what the story was based around and I think it made reading it that much better but also impacted how epic the plot could have been.

I gave it a 4/5 but thinking back to it, it was more of a 3.5. I did enjoy it and I will be watching the movie and continuing the series 🙂

 

 

 

The Other Side Of Gravity by Shelly Crane

The Other Side Of Gravity is a romance in its truest form. Rescuer turned boyfriend and Damsel in distress. The story made me laugh a lot but I don’t think it was meant to, some of the lines were so cheesy they were hilarious.

I gave this one a 3/5 and decided to continue on with the series so I can continue laughing at the characters .so how the story progresses.

 

 

 

Illuminae By Amie Koufmen & Jay Kristoff

SO if you read my review or follow me on instagram I’m sure you know how much I love this book! It was absolutely amazing and I have a gushing review and about a million photos of the prettiness of this beautiful. Favorite book on my shelf beauty and story wise.

The Girl on The Train By Paula Hawkins

I have to say while I liked the story I wasn’t engaged in it. The Girl on the Train didn’t make me want to turn the pages! I wasn’t rushing towards the ending to finally KNOW what happens but I did enjoy it. I really enjoyed the character growths and how there personalities were shown chapter by chapter.

I gave this one a 3ish/5

 

 

A Darker Shade Of Magic by V.E Shwab

A Darker Shade of Magic is everything everyone said it would be. Anti hero characters, A magic system that is well explained and has its limitations, multiple worlds with fantastic world building and descriptions for all of them, oh and kick ass characters.

I gave it a 5/5

 

 

 

A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Shwab

wholly sancts this book was amazing. Pirates, magic competitions, royal affairs, balls, evilness, angst, new amazing characters, and MORE LILA!

I gave this a 5/5 and can’t wait for the third book! Is it February yet?

Book Haul

I only bought 3 books this month! I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing >.<

I bought Illuminae, pre ordered Gemina and bought The Haters as a cover buy.

Life update: This month we should have a new Kitchen and all new flooring finished in the house and then the renovations will be more than halfway finished!

I’ve had a fantastic opportunity arise and believe it will do wonders for my writing but I’m keeping it under wraps for now until it’s all confirmed 😀
