Mid Year Book Freak Out tag

*Insert Obligatory it’s already July and the years gone fast and oh no it’s nearly christmas*

Guys it’s Winter here in Aus and I am not a Winter person. While everyone’s posting about their Summers and how awesome they are I’ll be here quietly wishing for the months to hurry up and warm up again because I’m sick of this weather!

Angie over at Angiesbookblog tagged me in this one! Thanks Angie this tag looked really fun and I can’t wait to get into it!

Best Book You’ve Read Yet in 20169781780748375

I’ve read so many good books this year that it is really hard to choose but if I must I’m going to go with Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff.

These characters, the story, the way t was told, the books design. I loved everything about this book.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2016

YES to this question! I only have one BEST sequel this year, do you guys know what it is? Do you? I’ll give you a hint it starts with A and ends with OMIGOD haha It’s ACOMAF guys if you haven’t read it. 1. Why? 2. Go read it!ACOMAF

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To

27161189.jpg

I have read this entire series but the last book United as One and I haven’t got around to this yet. I have forgotten what happens so I may do a re-read of the last few books and then dive into this one.

Also if you’re looking for a good sci-fy YA series I recommend I Am Number 4.

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year

As much as I’d like to say The Cursed Child, I just can’t my most anticipated release is Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas I NEED MORE CELAENA

Biggest Disappointment

It’s a tie! Enders Game and Rebel Belle were both huge disappointments for me. I couldn’t stand the Main Characters especially Rebel Belle’s and the story line didn’t grip me.

Biggest Surprise

25111004.jpg

My first Colleen Hoover book and I wasn’t to sure what to expect with it. I went in blind because I knew so many people loved her writing and I’m so happy I did. This story was amazing and I had so many emotions running through me at once. I read this in one sitting, thank you past me for having the foresight to start this on a Friday night.

I don’t know what I would have done if I had to put this book down and try to do adult things like work *shudders*

Favorite New Author

Jay Kristoff. After I read Illuminae and heard about his newest book Nevernight I couldn’t wait to pick it up. I’m going to the release at Dymocks this month and I can’t wait to meet him. I was lucky enough to get this as an ARC and it was fantastic.

This book has footnotes which I liked but as I read it on an ebook it wasn’t quite formatted properly. The story take a little bit to get into but once it does it’s everything I wanted.

Synopsis: In a land where three suns almost never set, a fledgling killer joins a school of assassins, seeking vengeance against the powers who destroyed her family.

Daughter of an executed traitor, Mia Corvere is barely able to escape her father’s failed rebellion with her life. Alone and friendless, she hides in a city built from the bones of a dead god, hunted by the Senate and her father’s former comrades. But her gift for speaking with the shadows leads her to the door of a retired killer, and a future she never imagined.

Now, Mia is apprenticed to the deadliest flock of assassins in the entire Republic—the Red Church. If she bests her fellow students in contests of steel, poison and the subtle arts, she’ll be inducted among the Blades of the Lady of Blessed Murder, and one step closer to the vengeance she desires. But a killer is loose within the Church’s halls, the bloody secrets of Mia’s past return to haunt her, and a plot to bring down the entire congregation is unfolding in the shadows she so loves.

Will she even survive to initiation, let alone have her revenge?

Are any of my Melbourne friends going to the release? Let me know in the comments!

Newest Fictional Crush

Newest Favorite Character

Kady from Illuminae is my newest favorite character she’s full of sass. She’s funny, tough, and a computer genius I don’t know what more I could want.

Book That Made You Cry

I’m going with the predictable and choosing Me Before You. I didn’t proper sob like I did for TFIOS but I had some tears come out at the end. I really loved this book because whiles it is sad it’s also happy and gives you a really great feeling of doing more with your life once you put it down.

Book That Made You Happy

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.

This story was just perfect. Cath is perfect, Levi is perfect. The fangirling, the fan fiction, the anxiety, the family troubles, the sibling quarrels. Every bit of this book was relatable and made the book so special to me.

I laughed a fair bit and just had a smile plastered on my face at all the amazing fluffy bits.

My only problem with this book is that I needed more and I got more even if it was of a different story because of this book I read Carry On and that was the best!

Favorite Book to Film Adaptation

Hmmm how about none? I hated the 5th wave they ruined Cassies character in my opinion  I was very meh about Me Before You, I liked it but I wasn’t satisfied with it..

OH I know The Martian, while I still didn’t like how much they changed the movie I thought the setting was really well done and enjoyed the movie.

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought This Year

What Book Do You Need to Read by the End of the Year

345627.jpgI have so many books I’d like to read by this year but Vampire Academy is one of them. I just never picked this up mainly because of the name and cover but so many people have told me how much they love this series I’m finally giving it a go.

I have the first book at home and will probably buy the rest as ebooks if I enjoy them 😀

  1. Ooh I love this tag! I was going to post it before, but now I have an actual excuse!! Thank you ♥

YES @ ILLUMINAE!! I’m still so so happy that you loved it! And it’s so pretty 😍 I’m also super jealous that you’ve already read Nevernight, haha AND that you’re getting to meet Jay. Haha. That’s so awesome!!! I’m glad you enjoyed The Night Circus too, I’m hoping to read it soon. I haven’t read ACOMAF yet because I didn’t really ACOTAR so I’m kinda hesitant 🙈

    1. Depending on what you didn’t like from ACOTAR you may like ACOMAF, Nevernight was amazing I literally yelled when I got approved my partner asked me if I was okay and than ignored me when I started rambling about a book 😂😂 Can’t wait to see your tag 😁

      1. I kinda didn’t like anything except Lucien 😂

Haha!! I love it!! I totally would have done the same.

Also, I totally forgot to say that the Vampire Academy series is super fun! It’s nothing life changing, but still really enjoyable. I need to finish the series, but I’ve read the first 3 (or 4) books and I loved all of them. Hope you like it!!

        1. The second book is completely different to ACOTAR but there’s nearly no Lucien so maybe it won’t be for you, we do get new characters that I love though! (I’m not a reasonable person to be talking about continuing the ACOTAR series because I absolutely loved ACOMAF so I’m a bit biased XD)

I’m excited for the Vampire Academy series so many people have told me they loved it and I finally get to see what all the fuss is about, I hope I still like it even though I’ve passed my Vampire phase 🙂

Wow, the last I Am Number For book has FINALLY been released?! I read the first two or three but then it felt like the story was going on forever so I stopped… I don’t know if I should pick it back up again?

    1. It’s been a super long series but I enjoyed it, I haven’t read it for a while so hopefully I still like it as much as I did the first time 😊 I’d say go for it if you want to but it’s up to you 😁 Nevernight was fantastic it took me 100 pages to really warm to the story but the writing is fantastic and the story it’s self goes from wow to oh my fucking God in the end. So many things that I didnt see coming 😊 I can’t wait to write my review once it’s released and see everyone’s else’s thoughts on it 😊

  4. Thank you so much for the tag!

    1) You have made me very curious about Illuminae…
    2) I need to read November 9! It’s actually my Mom’s birthday so it must be fate!
    3) I’ve been putting off seeing the movie Me Before You bc I’m scared I’ll be disappointed! Your the first person who has said it was just ok.
    4) I just finished Fangirl. It wasn’t my particular cup of tea, HOWEVER it gave me a better understanding of my best friend who writes fanfiction! I think I just had a hard time relating to it. I thought it was entertaining.

    1. I’m glad your curious about Illuminae I absolutely loved it! and November 9 is so good it’s definitely fate that your Mum’s birthday is in on the same day XD

I’m always pretty picky with book to movie adaptations, this was certainly a good one but they can never meet my standards 😦
I loved Fangirl but I related to Cath a lot so I could see how someone who didn’t wouldn’t go crazy over it like some of us did XD
