The Fill-in Boyfriend by Kasie West

When Gia Montgomery’s boyfriend, Bradley, dumps her in the parking lot of her high school prom, she has to think fast. After all, she’d been telling her friends about him for months now. This was supposed to be the night she proved he existed. So when she sees a cute guy waiting to pick up his sister, she enlists his help. The task is simple: be her fill-in boyfriend—two hours, zero commitment, a few white lies. After that, she can win back the real Bradley.

The problem is that days after prom, it’s not the real Bradley she’s thinking about, but the stand-in. The one whose name she doesn’t even know. But tracking him down doesn’t mean they’re done faking a relationship. Gia owes him a favor and his sister intends to see that he collects: his ex-girlfriend’s graduation party—three hours, zero commitment, a few white lies.

This book is impossibly cute and full of sunshiney happiness! It had me smiling from the second page. This book is the perfect read if you’re looking for something funny, quick, and light-hearted.

Gia is the top girl at school, class president, prom queen entry, popular etc… and this is her last year before college.

On her Prom night her college Boyfriend breaks up with her because she’s an ignorant ninny head and they part on fairly good terms BUT she’s left without a date and her friends inside already think she was lying about having a boyfriend so she has to pull something together quick.

She grabs the first person she sees, makes them go change and come back pretending to be “Bradley” the boyfriend who was real but is now a lie.

“Do you live close? Because you can’t go in there in jeans and a T-shirt. Especially one with a telephone booth on it.”

This book is full of hard truths and realities that I wasn’t expecting. Gia was inconsiderate and the typical popular girl until she met “Fill-in Brad” I’m not going to say his real name because I enjoyed trying to guess at it so hopefully you will to.

I went into this book blind, only knowing that it had rave reviews and was a summer contemporary.

I loved the Family and friendships in this book as well as all the character development. Every single one of these characters grew up and it was a perfect coming of age story.

I gave this a 4/5 stars.

While I did really enjoy the story Gia was a bit to perfect at times and kind of annoying I loved the side characters a lot more than her.

If you’re looking for a quick fun contemporary look no further! The Fill in Boyfriend is here XD

Have you read this? Thoughts?

I was quite surprised that there were some real themes included that made the book have a bit more substance than I was expecting.

    1. I picked up On The Fence right after this and loved it as well! Especially since we seen some cameos from The Distance Between us XD I’m joining you on the fangirl wagen her books are just so easy and fun to read 😀

      1. I am obsessed with On the Fence. I’m a tomboy like Charlie. I could totally relate to her. Yes, to all of her books. ❤️ I’m hoping her new book is in my OwlCrate for August. A lot of people think it will be. I sure hope so.

        1. Charlie is the best, I loved her trying to think of make up and female Authors and failing like the boys XD
That would be super awesome because the theme would have to do with libraries right? I may have to look at getting myself one but the international shipping prices are ridic 😦 Hopefully the YA chronicles does a similar theme!

          1. I love Charlie! She’s me in high school except I liked makeup. I got such a kick out of her trying to be girly. I was that girl with 99% male friends who played tackle football with them and was a complete mess half the time. Ha! That book really took me back in the day. I could relate more than most. I heard the theme is contemporary for August. I haven’t checked myself, but that’s what a few people have told me, and all of them think it’s Kasie West’s new book. I’m on auto-subscription, so I forget to look half the time so I can be surprised. International shipping might be killer for OwlCrate.
