Happy Tuesday people! Is happy Tuesday a thing? I feel like Tuesday’s are kind of neglected in the day department I mean who loves Tuesdays? Well now I can love Tuesday because I’ve made a promise with myself that I will be participating in TTT hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. All the prompts are just so good I can’t wait to answer them.

This weeks prompt is Authors new to me in 2016. I have read A LOT of new Authors this year so this lost could have been 30 but I decided to go with my new Auto buy Authors.

Louise Gornall – Under Rose Tainted Skies

Norah has agoraphobia and OCD. When groceries are left on the porch, she can’t step out to get them. Struggling to snag the bags with a stick, she meets Luke. He’s sweet and funny, and he just caught her fishing for groceries. Because of course he did.

Louise Gornall is an Own Voices Author and brings her first hand knowledge of Anxiety, Depression, and Agoraphobia to light with her amazing character Norah and her story. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for Louise’s next work.

 

Rachel Bach – Fortunes Pawn/ The Paradox Trilogy

I loved Rachel’s main character Devi, she’s a kickass female and her love for powered armor is just the best thing I’ve ever read. Rachel already has more book released so I can’t wait to pick up another series by her.

Cath Crowley – Words in Deep Blue

Cath Crowley is an Aussie author that I have somehow missed for years?! I adored this book, it’s one of my favourite contemporaries and I will be reading all of Cath’s work asap!

Charlie Jane Anders – All The Birds In The Sky

All the Birds in the sky doesn’t really fall into a neat little category for me and I loved that. There are witches, talking trees and animals, as well as super computers, robots with feelings, and Artificial intelligence.
From flying through the tree tops while astro projecting, to building a 2 second time machine to leap out of the way of spit balls at the perfect moment. Natural disasters, and acts of terror. This book really had a lot of different themes but Charlies writing blended the story together perfectly and I loved everything from the narration to the characters, the plot arc and pace..

Sally Thorne – The Hating Game

a debut book that was so cliché it was amazing? Look I love a good romance and this book has all my guilty pleasure tropes. Hate to Love, Work place competition, Paintball love! (ok that last one isn’t a trope but I’ve been obsesses with paintball scenes ever since I watched 10 thing I hate about you)

This book is just all types of fun and I can not wait to read another by Sally Thorne!

 

 

Erin Morgernstern – The Night Circus

If you haven’t heard of this book I don’t know where you’ve been but man is it beautiful. The world is rich and wonderful and the writing and descriptions are just as magical as the characters.

Can I get a Erin where is another book please? I need some intricate and beautiful description of magical places.

 

Joe Hill – Heart Shaped Box

To say I was scared to start this book is a understatment. I wasn’t scared because it’s a horror I was scared because this is Stephen Kings son also writing horror! I mean first well done to this talented family and two that is a lot of pressure to live up to. I am so happy that Joe got his writing talent off his Dad and I actually love that he used a different last name I’m sure he would have gotten more sales from the general public if he flashed around his Dad’s name around but I like that he decided to rely on his own talent because he is fantastic no matter who sired him. I can’t wait to read his other books I’ve seen even better reviews for them so I know I’m going to love it.

Catherynne M. Valente – The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a ship of her own making

Twelve-year-old September lives in Omaha, and used to have an ordinary life, until her father went to war and her mother went to work. One day, September is met at her kitchen window by a Green Wind (taking the form of a gentleman in a green jacket), who invites her on an adventure, implying that her help is needed in Fairyland. September is already making new friends, including a book-loving Wyvern and a mysterious boy named Saturday.

This was a complete cover buy for me, I mean look at that Wyvern on the cover I had to grab it. This story is full of wonder and really flowery writing that I adored. I recently hauled Catherynnes Radiant which is an Alternative History Sci Fi/Fantasy! YES PLEASE *grabby hands* I can’t wait to read it.

Patrick Ness – The Rest Of Us Just live Here

What if you aren’t the Chosen One? The one who’s supposed to fight the zombies, or the soul-eating ghosts, or whatever the heck this new thing is, with the blue lights and the death? What if you’re like Mikey? Who just wants to graduate and go to prom and maybe finally work up the courage to ask Henna out before someone goes and blows up the high school. Again. Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week’s end of the world, and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life. Even if your best friend is worshipped by mountain lions.

Fun and diverse characters mixed with paranormal happenings and a coming of age story? This was my first Patrick Ness book and I just had so much fun reading it I bought the rest of his books.

Morgan Matson – Since You’ve Been Gone

Long contemporary’s with relatable characters I’d like some more please? I love Matson’s books and binge read them all this year. 500 page contemporaries should really be more of a thing because 300 is to short I want to spend the rest of my life with most of these characters so an extra 200 pages is a-okay with me.
