My Favourite Contemporary Books of 2016

CHRISTMAS *Screams for a month* I am sitting on the floor just staring at a list that I need to get done before Christmas is here and I though a list would be good, you know, Casey make a list and it will make your to do’s more manageable, logic right? Well now I’m just staring at this list deciding that omg why do I have to leave everything last-minute I am a bad human let’s go write a post instead. I do this to myself I really do there is no one else to blame. giphy.gif

To continue my top books if the year here are my TOP 3 CONTEMPORARIES OF THE YEAR (also these aren’t books released this year these are books I read this year) This was so hard to choose guys so hard DX

10434679In Third place is Words In Deep Blue by Cath Crowley

This book is so many types of beautiful I mean it’s set around a used book store that has a letter library and a million references to other Authors and books that I love and it’s not all fluff it’s heavy on all the different types of Love and loss. All the characters are fantastic even character that were only in one chapter I felt like I had a firm grip on who they were and what they added onto the story. Also it OzYa and just amazing READ IT ALL

15749186.jpgSecond place and this was a hard choice I mean a super hard choice is All The Birds I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

If you love contemporaries and haven’t read or heard of this book WHAT ARE YOU DOING? There are cookies and great Family rep, the main character is an awkward teen that is quirky and hilarious.

This series was originally a Duology but early in the year Jenny announced that we are getting a third book! *cue fangirl* YAAAASSSS to more of this amazing family and baking cookies.

15801353.jpgFirst Place is Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secretes of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz.

I put off reading this just because I wanted to be in the perfect mind set to really enjoy the story and not be swept away by all the hype and I’m so happy I did. Ari and Dante is a beautiful story, the writing just washed over me and left me with such intense feelings of sadness or anxious 17 year old ness that I was amazing and wish I had read this book as a teen. If you haven’t read it yet you need to I mean look at all the awards on the cover! Do you think they’re there for looks? No the covers already beautiful without them.

These are my top Contemporary picks on 2016 What is your fave contemporary of the year? Did you read any of these this year? Let me know down below and we can yell about all the great books together!

Also please tell me your stresses out of Christmas because omg it’s in 3 DAYS *screams for an hour*

    1. I was really into it from the first page but the second half of the book definitely picks up! There’s going to be a second book now and I’m so excited for it I can’t wait to see what Ari and Dante are like when there older 😀
