ANOTHER READATHON sign me up, I’ve managed to participate in a readathon 3 months in a row this year and even though I stray from my TBR a fair bit I love the motivation it gives me to smash through my TBR.
What better way to get some must read books of my TBR then Asianlitbingo, as I’m on project 5 I won’t be buying any books for this challenge but I’ve got a few on my shelf that’ll work with the challenges even if they’re not in a row.
My TBR:
- South Asian MC: When Dimple met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
- Multiracial/Multiethnic Asian MC: Always and Forever Lara Jean by Jenny Han
- Contemporary with Asian MC: Everything I never told you by Celeste Ng
- Translated work by an asian author: Kafka on the shore by Haruki Murakami, translated by Philip Gabriel
Asianlit book reviews that will be on the blog this month!
- The Girl from everywhere by Heidi Heilig
- The Ship Beyond Time by Heidi Heilig
- In Order to Live by Yeonmi Park
- Noteworthy by Riley Redgate
If you’re not sure on what Asianlitbingo is it’s a May readathon created by the amazing bloggers below to celebrate Asian American Heritage month. Check out Reading asian american’s master post.

I think I’m most excited to start When Dimple Met Rishi that book has been getting ALL the hype and I need to know why.
Oooh awesome TBR!! And YAY for reviews going up, I shall keep an eye out!!! ❤ I want to know about the hype for Dimple as well, it's on my pending TBR. I think a copy will find its way to me but not sure yet! I can't wait to pick diverse reads off my shelf, it's always so fun and motivating to be part of a readathon!

I sucked a readathons last year coz I was always strict on myself to only read those books but now I’m just motivated to read by them even if it strays from my tbr, same I didn’t even realise I had this many ownvoice books just sitting on my shelves! Hope we both love all our picks 🙈

I’ve read When Dimple Met Rishi and it is ADORABLE! Wait for the dancing! I’m going to be reading Everything I Never Told You for this challenge as well.
At the moment, I’m most looking forward to continuing to read No More Heroes as I started it yesterday, and it’s quite exciting!

Hi Casey! First of all, so excited and happy that you’re joining us in our reading challenge!
I’m so SO happy to see Murakami on someone’s TBR. He’s one of my all-time favourite authors! I really liked Kafka on the Shore – it’s such a thoughtful, surreal book and truly a unique reading experience. Have you read his other books by any chance? 😀

I’m so happy this challenge is happening! I haven’t read any Murakami and I’ve been putting off Kafka for around a year just because I’ve heard how different it is and i want to be in the right headspace to approximate his writing I can’t wait to finically start it now tho! I’m

Oooh gosh, Murakami is just AMAZING. If Kafka isn’t your cup of tea, I’d like to recommend his other more known novels and one of my personal favourites, Norwegian Wood. Murakami himself didn’t like the book very much (ahah!) but I think it’s so profound and sad… or at least I thought so 4 years ago!

Kafka is the only one I own so I thought I’d give it a go first but Norwegian Wood sounds really good too. Haha thats funny! He dislikes one of his most popular books it really does sound like a weighty read but in a good way if that makes sense 😀

It totally does! Norwegian Wood is more of his… less surreal books and it’s just about love in all forms. Verh different to his usual style, but I like it a lot. 😊

I have Noteworthy here from the library. I’ve read a few books so far for the Readathon. I didn’t realize I had so many books by Asian authors at my house.

This sounds like a great theme for a Lit Bingo, and a great way to feature/read some more diverse books as well. The ones you have on your to-read list sound amazing. I recently finished When Dimple Met Rishi and really enjoyed it so I hope you do as well Casey, and actually now it’s been released I really want to read Always and Forever Lara Jean as well. I hope you enjoy all the books on your to-read list, and I can’t wait to see your reviews for the others as well.
Good luck with this Lit Bingo! 😀

Your TBR looks wonderful as well! I’ve been dyyying to read When Dimple Met Rishi, I hope you love it! I’ve heard amazing things. I’m also up next at my library to get a copy of Everything I Never Told You and can’t wait because that looks great as well. Will you be doing a review of Kafka on the Shore because I loved his 1Q84 and The Wind Up Bird Chronicle but haven’t gotten around to Kafka and would love to hear your thoughts. Enjoy! 🙂

I’ve had my eye on Everything I never told you for a while. I believe it is set in my state of Ohio correct? I will be looking forward to seeing what you think!
OOoooo can’t wait to read your review for The Girl From Everywhere! I really enjoyed that book… I really need to pick up a copy of the second book!

I’m halfway through it atm and yep it’s set in Ohio, it’s just got an amazing narration, the words feel weighted and important and just heavy like the atmosphere of the book it’s fantastic.
I loved the second book even more then the first so I hope you do to!

I’m so excited for this one, keenly watching everyone’s progress and hoping to pick up a few recommendations along the way. I’m hoping to see Freedom Swimmer on a few lists too, a wonderful LoveOzYA title about the freedom swimmers escaping communist China and the Mao regime. Such a phenomenal read.

I just checked out Freedom Swimmer and it sounds amazing, added it to my TBR If it’s on Audio I might try to squeeze it in to my bingo TBR.
