Series I still haven’t started – Top Ten Tuesday

Yes we are going to go down this rabit hole, strap in because it’s going to be a journey. Todays Top Ten Tuesday the amazing theme created by the amazing  The Broke and the Bookish is *dramatic drum roll* Top Ten Series I’ve Been Meaning To Start But Haven’t.

Whats that? Oh don’t mind me I’m just laughing like a loon and slowly rocking back and forth as the ever growing pressure of my TBR crushes me. Is it not enough that not only do I have so many unfinished series but there’s another butt load of books that I haven’t

actual author photo while they laugh at our pain and announce a new 6 books series

even started AND the Authors have the audacity to keep earning a living by writing even more books and adding to their world! DONT THEY KNOW I AM A SMALL PERSON WITH LARGE AMBITIONS AND I MUST ADD ALL THE BOOKS TO MY TBR?! You’d think they’d have some consideration.

Okay onto the list, I’ll try to keep it short because we could be here all day. Starting with series I own but I’m ignoring.

IMG_9622Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier – The Precious Stone trilogy

I think it’s about a time traveller? In a dress? Most likely magic? Look I bought it way to long ago and just liked the covers. I do plan on starting this this year.

Captive Prince by CS Pacat

Yes it’s an Aussie author, yes it’s m/m romance, yes it’s short, no I don’t have a valid excuse for not reading this yet. I think I’ve put this book on my TBR every month of this year and it’s not helping. It’s so short and I’ve seen the Athor around at events so I do really want to hurry up and read it.

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Page

IMG_9621A Dorothy retelling where someone tries to kill her? I so hope there’s a dog side kick. I have book 1 and 2 ready to read. I’ve put this off because I’m scared it’ll be a meh 3 star read and I don’t want to be disappointed. I will start these this year too (I’m probably going to say that for all of these, a girl can dream).

The Bone Season by Samantha ShannonC9SMQVvVYAE4oKc.jpg

BEFORE everyone starts yelling at me I promise this is high on my TBR and I’m planning on starting it this month! I can feel your disappointed stares every time I ignore the caps lock comments telling me to PICK THE THING UP. It’s worked though! Without the constant threats from online friends telling me I need this book in my life I probably would have put it off for another millennia.

Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

Rick of Rick why must you have so many amazing books out. I read Percy Jackson for the first time this year and enjoyed it so much! I love the mix of mythology and awesome characters and can’t wait to start the spin-off series.

Chaos Walking trilogy by Partick Ness

Me and Ness are a mess, I’m really wary about jumping into this because his IMG_9623contemporary spec-fic is always a hit or miss for me BUT this is fantasy so maybe it won’t be as messy? Atleast thats what I’m hoping.

I also have really low expectations so it has every chance to blow me away.

Ruined by Amy Tintera

Assassins anyone? I have book 1 & 2 sitting on my shelf, it’s not like I’m unsure of the writing I enjoyed Amy’s Reboot series a few years ago so there should be nothing stopping me from diving into an Assassin story EXCEPT I’ve heard a lot of good and bad reviews so it was pushed to the bottom of the pile. I do think I’ll love it though, it sounds right up my ally I just need to start the goddamn thing.

Are any of these still on your TBR?

Who’s joining me in freezing time for a bit so we can all catch up on all the series minus the impending terror that is a new release? OR god forbid a spin off series of the world you haven’t even started.

I’m looking at you Cassandra Clare and Leigh Bardugo I KNOW you don’t have to read all the series to understand whats happening but us bookworms have to because Cameos = spoilers.

  1. I still haven’t started the Percy Jackson series yet.. haha and what makes it worse is I also have the Heroes of Olympus series. There was an amazing Rick Riordan sale on Amazon for his eBooks alright *shifty eyes* I caved and bought all ten books for like $20. DON’T JUDGE ME!

    1. LISS WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO TO ME *runs to amazon* PJ is good book 1-3 were very middle grade so i didn’t fall in love with them as much as everyone else but as Percy grows they get more action-ey and they’re just super fun, I can’t wait to go on more adventures in this world 😉

  2. I can’t wait for you to read Heroes of Olympus! It’s definitely a different feel to the Percy Jackson series but I loved how it was different and I adored all the characters too!! Rick is amazing. But I don’t think I’ll ever be caught up on his books hahahaha!! As I type this I know I’m at least two behind, plus he’s got one more out in October. *rocks back and forth*
I also have The Knife of Never Letting Go on my TBR shelf at home. I’ve put it off because I tried to start it last year but couldn’t get hooked. So I’m hoping the next time I pick it up, I’ll like it. I know people who’ve said it’s a mind-blowing trilogy so I am definitely expecting a ride! Awesome post. 😀

    1. Rick is just such a great writer so I’m super excited to read + more mythology yay! Man he releases so many DX Which is good but also GIMME TIME TO CATCH UP PLA *joins in with the rocking*
I haven’t even read the first page fingers crossed I like it, I’m glad I only have the first book though that way I don’t have the pressure of continuing if its meh.

  3. Oh please read the Captive Prince series! Its my favourite series of all time – the first book is hard to read, but book 2 and 3 are simply incredible!
I haven’t read Dorothy Must Die but my sister is reading the first book at the moment and she LOVES it. She also hates YA but is studying to be a teacher so is reading YA books and says the book is amazing. So if someone like her can love the book, I think it should be pretty good! 😊

    1. It’s so short and looks so good! i don’t know why I keep putting it off :/ I will pick it up asap though I really want to see what all the hype is about and it seems like something I could really binge read in a day 😀
Ooh thats awesome! i love people finding a YA that they enjoy hopefully she reads some more because of the series, she’s missing out on some amazing stories 🙂

  4. Ah! You’ve reminded me of MORE BOOKS I want to read!! Really keen for The Knife of Never Letting Go, and I’ve had a copy of The Bone Season for MONTHS and haven’t got to it yet!

    1. The Bone Season is one that’s just been getting so much praise and it sounds like something I’ll love so I have no idea why I keep putting the thing off XD Hopefully we both read it soon and join in with everyone else shouting about it XD

  5. The Bone Season stares at me every time I go into the library. I’m going to get around to it, I just haven’t yet! I liked the Captive Prince trilogy but the first book (or rather the first half of the first book) was my least favourite unfortunately. I did finish it really quickly though.

    1. TELL ME ABOUT IT! That book is so judgy XD I’ve been told the book is very shocking at the start and there triggers for rape, which are all to common in fantasy really 😦 I’m glad you liked the rest of the story, I may skim the start if it’s a bit to much.

      1. I know! 😀

Yeah, it’s really unfortunate. If the rest of the first book had been like the first half, I would haven’t bothered picking up the next two. It’s not the best thing ever but it’s an enjoyable enough. But yes, graphic rape warnings so that’s not something you should go in unawares.

  6. Dorothy Must Die and The Bone Season, YESSS! Love those two series. I still need to read the last DMD book though. Chaos Walking trilogy and Heroes of Olympus are so awesome too. Great list!

  7. Great picks for this week. I’ll even admit I have Ruined on my TBR list still as well, I keep saying I want to get around to it soon but then I just never do. 🙂
I love some of the series you still have to-read; The Bone Season and The Knife of Never Letting Go are two all-time favourites of mine so I really hope you enjoy them both. I only got around to The Heroes of Olympus books last month myself, a year after finished the first Percy Jackson series, and I wasn’t too keen on Dorothy Must Die but maybe you’ll enjoy that series more than I did.
Again great picks, and happy reading! 😀

    1. All these books have been sitting on my shelf for soo long, I don’t know what it is about Ruined that makes me keep putting it off?! It has a female assassin and usually I’m all over books with female stabby characters XD Hopefully we both love it when we pick it up!
TBS is so popular I started listening to the audio at first but the world/magic crews confused me and I couldn’t get into the audio but this happens to me sometimes with fantasies on audio. Thanks Beth! I’m certainly hoping I love all of these ❤

      1. Hopefully we will, maybe the wait will make it all worth it, or maybe when we finally get around to Ruined we’ll be kicking ourselves for not having picked it up sooner. Who knows?
Oh that’s a shame, I’d suggest giving the books a go though. It is quite heavy on the world-building, especially in the beginning, but oh it’s an amazing series and I’m sure you’ll love it! 😀 ❤

  8. This is the best TtT I’ve read today. I bow to your superior blogging skills!! I really love The Heroes of Olympus — in fact, I enjoy it more than the original Percy series. 😀 The characters are so much more complicated and robust. I personally put down The Knife of Never Letting Go, but it was the first of Ness’s books I’ve read and I’ve since learned I just don’t enjoy his writing. *shrug* To each their own!

Also– I am on board for helping you figure out how to freeze time. Perhaps we should find some time-turners?!

    1. Rick’s writing is just So good! I can’t wait to read more of his work, I think I’ll end up like you and liking it more then PJ just coz the MC’s older, although I did love PJ in the last books 😀
Ness and I have a sticky relation ship, I love A Monster calls and The Rest of us just live here but hated More than this. Hopefully I like this one but I’m not going in with high expectations.
Time turners, giant freezers, maybe a flash.superman type to fly around the world and spin it in the other direction? I’m not picky XD

      1. Oh, don’t get me wrong, the original series is great– but it’s definitely more MG. The second series is more YA, too, and that challenged me more as a reader. I could predict things less easily. I enjoy that.

Yeah, I didn’t enjoy eThe Rest of Us Just Live Here, so that’s another reason for me to ignore his writing– but EVERYONE tells me A Monster Calls is awesome. I’ll read it some day. I swear. 😉

I would *love* a superhero to break all the laws of physics to spin the world backwards. That whole concept makes me laugh sooo hard. I love it.

  9. The Knife of Never Letting Go was my first attempt at Patrick Ness and I quickly learned that we did not get on… I also have The Bone Season on my list though! Such a great list… happy reading! Jackie @ Death by Tsundoku raves about you and she’s right, you’re great!

    1. YOU ARE TO NICE *blushes* you came here from Jackie!? THAT IS SO SWEET XD
I hope I can get into Knife of never letting go but I’m not to sure, I’m keeping my expectations low for now. Hope you like The Bone Season when you get to it! So many people rave about it 😀

  10. So many great series here! The Percy Jackson series is actually on my list of series to read, so it’s good to hear you enjoyed them so much. Off this list, The Chaos Walking trilogy is on my TBR. I’ve heard such good things about it 🙂

    1. I think you’ll enjoy Percy! He’s adventures are so much fun and the mythology is fantastic 🙂
I’ve heard so many good things about Chaos as well I hope we both love it XD
