This book! It’s been a while since I gave a contemporary 5 stars a its so good to find one that deserves it and many more, seriously Autoboyography is unique and has such a fresh feel and voice I know some things about LDS (latter-day saints) because my friend’s family were LDS but not much at all and this book really did it’s research.

Reading the acknowledgements and hearing about how this book came about, how the author worked with Kids in a LDS town and saw countless tales of kids not being able to come out to their families or love who they want as it clashed with their religious beliefs.

The characters made my heart happy, Tanner is seriously fighting Simon (from Simon Vs) in my fave male character category, and the best son, and friend section. FAMILY THEMES, SO MUCH SUPPORTIVE FAMILY, CUTE ASS FAMILY, I LOVE IT.

Autoboyography has a lot of happy making moments but it gets pretty dark. Going into the family aspects and what happens when they aren’t this loving supportive bumper sticker giving family you hoped for. What it’s like to be rejected from your family if you come out to them, and what comes with your family rejecting you; the depression, the aftermath, and it hurts but I like that this book didn’t shy away from that even if it was about Tanners Aunt and her experiences reflected in what could happen if Seb came out.

“I don’t actually care if you break my heart, Sebastian. I went into this knowing it could happen and I gave it to you anyway. But I don’t want you to break your own. You have so much space in your heart for your church, but does it have space for you?”

The writing is also fantastic, the stories played out layered under Tanners actual work of fiction for class and it melds perfectly,  I liked that a lot.

I’m not going to say much plot wise that the synopsis doesn’t but I do highly recommend this be on everyone’s TBR ❤ ❤
