January TBR

2019 is here and so brings a fresh reading start, or nearly. Last year got so busy: I changed jobs, moved houses, picked a new house which will begin construction in FEBRUARY, and somehow completely forgotten how to finish a book.

New year, semi sorted out routine and the goal for January is to finish all my half read books and sort out my tbr shelves as they’re all half in boxes, half scattered around my floor.

I’ve started 5 books in December and fininshed none, once they’re done I’m going to tackle my back logged tbr.

Books I’ve started:

Muse of Nightmares by Lani Taylor

I’m 5 pages in, the only reason I haven’t binge read this on public transport is I don’t want to haul my hardcover in my backpack and risk damage, need day off I vow to sit down and read the whole thing.

Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

I started this audio was loving it and then got distracted by wanting to re-read the Lady Midnight series on audio… ooops I shall pick back up.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

Speaking of Lady Midnight I’d like to finish my reread of book one and two and get into the final.

Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman

I have this one ebook and I keep reading randomly whenever I remember it’s there, I’m about 30% done and liking it so I just need to knock it out.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Okay by Gail Honeyman

I found this baby at the little library and it was the only thing not in a box so I started it in the bath, I’m 4 chapters in and it’s quite short so I think this will be my first read of 2019.

I do not recommend having so many books on the go but sometimes life just sneaks up😅

I also plan on being more active on Instagram again so if anyone’s interested in reading updates follow me @adoptabookaus 💕

What are you currently reading? Have you finished your first 2019 book? Or are you about too? Let me know if you’re enjoying it!

  1. I started Eleanor Oliphant last year and what I read was really good! There are a fair bit of trigger warnings in it, but I think it’s still really good. I’ve made notes so when I get back to it and write a review I’ll be able to include them. If you ever get the chance, the audiobook is also really nice. The accent of the narrator is quite pleasant.

  2. Wow you had a rather big year last year hey!!! So exciting about the new house too!! I hope you absolutely love Muse of Nightmares, I thought it was wonderful and I don’t think I’ve heard a bad word about it. Man, reading 5 books at the same time is intense!! I was reading 3 at one point and it made my head spin – though I was definitely NEVER bored!!!! Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful 2019, it’s great to have you back 🙂

    1. I definitely did not mean to start 5 books I just kept picking up new ones because I was so distracted by other things 😅
I don’t think I’ve heard anything bad either and Strange was a 5star read for me so I’m sure I’ll love it!
I hope you have a great 2019 too! Thank you 💕

  3. Haha, sometimes you can’t help but have multiple books on the go! I prefer to read no more than 2, but hey, I ended up with up to 5 some times as well^^

I enjoyed ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ when I read it over 10 years ago. Always wanted to try the TV show.

I finished my first read of the year today. It was a graphic novel – the 6th volume of ‘Saga’ and it absolutely broke my heart and made me cry.

Happy reading (and listening) to you in 2019 🙂

    1. I’ve heard so so many good things about saga!! I need to see if my library has them and give them a read the art looks amazing. I usually stick to a physics and audio but I let myself keep half starting books and it got out of hand 😂
I’ve seen good things about the show so I want to start that too once I’m down with the book hopefully it lives up to the hype!
