Most kids would do anything to pass the Iron Trial.
Not Callum Hunt. He wants to fail.
All his life, Call has been warned by his father to stay away from magic. If he succeeds at the Iron Trial and is admitted into the Magisterium, he is sure it can only mean bad things for him.
So he tries his best to do his worst – and fails at failing.
Now the Magisterium awaits him. It’s a place that’s both sensational and sinister, with dark ties to his past and a twisty path to his future.
The Iron Trial is just the beginning, for the biggest test is still to come . . .

2 out of 5 stars **
This book has magic, 3 friends, a snarky bully, a magical school with a cryptic teacher and of course lets not forget the great ‘enemy’ who started the great war 12 years ago that know one has seen since, Sound familiar?
I’m un able to say much without spoiling, I was so annoyed at this book I just vented my frustrations on Good reads.
If you’ve read this and would like to see my spoiler review have you can find it here on my good reads also feel free to add me as a friend! I love to see what everyone’s reading and I’m always looking for some recommendations
Final thoughts: The characters were underdeveloped and I was not invested in any of them, the plot twist wasn’t that interesting and a lot of things annoyed me.
positives are: It was entertaining and if I wasn’t so annoyed with the POV I might have picked up the next book.
I purchased my copy from my local bookstore, if you interested in reading this yourself I’ve linked some stores down below. Abe books is the cheapest place to get it online at the moment.
Have you guys read this? Let me know what you thought, I’ve seen so many great reviews but this just fell short for me.
I’m sad to here it was that bad 😦 maybe I shouldn’t read it then

Some people have loved but I found the writing and the plot to be to similar to Harry Potter and not original enough to enjoy 😔
