heyheyhey before you stop reading and start thinking about how much you hated Twilight hear me out. ~~Also Twilight did a lot of good for the reading world and people need to stop being so harsh.~~

The host has 2 great main characters and the banter between Melanie and Wander is just so GOOD! I laughed, cried and couldn’t put this down.

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, didn’t expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

As Melanie fills Wanderer’s thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she’s never met. Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love. – Synopsis taken from Goodreads.

Wanda is so good natured and has great character development, turning into a brave and independent human/host/alien/soul/thingmabob she is very superman in her beliefs but it works she doesn’t come off to pompous or goody goody just innocent. This story flows perfectly and the movie adaptations not to bad either ~~I mean I didn’t scream at the screen or never watch it again which is what I do with most movie adaptations I’M LOOKING AT YOU 5th WAVE!~~
Melanie is stubborn and loyal, choosing death over betrayal of her loved ones.

The romance in this book is technically a love triangle BUT it is more like a complicated square and the jealousy is awesome! I know that sounds weird but I loved the conflict and how all the characters had to work around each other.

I give this story a 5 out of 5 stars *****

Recommended if you like the synopsis and/or have only not read this due to it being by Stephenie Meyer just pick it up and stop being so stubborn! Or for anyone that does love Twilight.
