TOP TEN TUESDAY giving me motivational ideas all year round XD This is a feature created and run by The Broke and the Bookish and the best prompt, if you’re new to blogging (or old) I highly recommend joining in! It’s an awesome way to find new blogs and the prompts are always fantastic.
This weeks prompt is *drum roll* 10 Books From X Genre That I’ve Recently Added To My TBR List — I’ve added a lot of Fantasy to my TBR lately so here are my most recent and highly anticipated fantasies.
Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb
The second book in the Farseer trilogy, I just finished Assassins Apprentice and really enjoyed it so of course this book was added to my TBR. All that is stopping me from buying it right away is deciding on what edition I want, SO MANY CHOICES. I could have phoned this whole TTT in and put 10 Hobb books on here.
The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell
Stop the Magician.
Steal the book.
Save the future.
That’s all the tag line I need. A time travelling thief trained from a young age to bring down people who are capturing people with an affinity for Magic and trapping them in Manhattan. ALSO THAT COVER… okay disclaimer I’m such a fangirl for all the following covers, they’re just so pretty!
Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller
But that is not all! It’s going to be a duology and the main character is Gender Fluid, sick of being a high way robber they enter a comp to become queen assassin and yes this is such a used trope BUT the audition is a fight to the death and I am so into that.
I can’t wait to read this and hopefully it turns the assassin competition trope on its head.
Royal Bastards by Andrew Shvarts
I just love bastards in fantasy? Give me all the orphaned kids and teach them how to pick pocket and kill, thank you.
I’ve heard this has hate/love friendships, sass, and mercenaries. I AM EXCITED FOR SASSY STABBY BASTARDS
Roar by Cora Carmack
Royal family that keeps control of the violent storms around their lands, a main character next in line with no powers to be seen, an arranged marriage with a shady dude buying illegal magic.
Give me all the sneakiness and storm powers! I love the ability to control weather and can’t wait to see this books take on the whole thing.
Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Can Amie just co- author everything? I mean seriously her books are amazing and I have no doubt this is going to blow my mind.
The tagline is Lara Croft mets Indiana Jones does it get any better? I think not.
Berserker by Emmy Laybourne
NORSE GODS. Is there anything more you need to know? Yes, well fine then:
- Murder gift
- When someone she loves is threaten she turns into a ball of murder
- Her bros been accused of a crime he didn’t do so I’m guessing there’s a lot of threats and rage killings
- The cover has blood and I like
- Basically just Murder
Invictus by Ryan Graudin
I loved Wolf by Wolf and still need to read the finally Blood for Blood but I’m even more excited for Invictus.
I may of tortured myself by reading a sample of the first chapter and AH I just know I’m going to love this time travel, sci fi: Doctor Who meets Firefly mash up!
Again I’d hate to repeat myself but the cover is stunning! 2017 is really stepping up its fantasy cover game.
Am I using this post as an excuse to shout about all the stabby fantasies? Yes why would you even question that! I am all the excitement for the second book in the Nevernight series, Mia is a badass killer and I just can’t wait to be repeatedly stabbed in the feels by her and this book. Stab stab stab.
I hope you enjoyed my list and I didn’t hurt your TBR to badly! Just joking I wish your tbr to grow large and lovely like mine is, I mean if you don’t cry and yell about a giant TBR I will never fully trust you. Organisation and time management skills = All alien concepts that people often hear about but never reach.
Did you do a TTT this week! Any of my picks on your list?
