Okay so October wasn’t my best reading month but I did read a some great books, quality over quantity right guys? Also I bought so many books that my Wallet is not talking to me and has taken a hiatus from being my friend but books okay books.
I read 9 books this month and loved all of them so let’s get into this:
Crooked Kingdom! This book is everything, if you haven’t read Six of Crows WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING READING THIS POST WHEN THIS AMAZING SERIES EXISTS GO READ PLEASE. It’s safe to say I am in love with everything about this beautiful book. The characters are all sweet little devious delinquents, the plot is masterful and Leigh should really be a master criminal
only not really because I need more books like this please
I haven’t even reviewed this because every time I try to I’m just at a lost for words and can’t sum up my love other than GOREADITNOWANDFANGIRLABOUTHOWAWESOMEITIS
Under The Dome by Stephen King
Let me set the scene for you: So I read this book (on ebook), got to the 300th page and was like wow is this going to end soon because we’re just getting started, checked the page count and realised it was 1000+ pages! Yeah I may have other looked that before I started, yeah opps Casey maybe you should have checked before diving into this ginormous book. Or not actually because then I may have put it off and not read how awesome this is.
I loved the whole town, the narration, all the deaths and how all this chaos went for a week. A WEEK AND THERE LITTLE WORLD NEARLY ENDED BECAUSE HUMANS ARE STRANGE.
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Re-read in prep for GEMINA’S release and YES it was even better the second time around but seriously what isn’t? I mean Second dessert? Second Dinner? Heck even Second Breakfast is always better than the first.
If you haven’t read this HAVE YOU EVEN BEEN LISTENING TO ALL MY SCREAMING ABOUT HOW AMAZING THIS IS? Read it please, now, and thank you.
String by David Estes
It’s a Pinocchio retelling people, A Pinocchio retelling with a gender swapped MC who is a gun at engineering and technology and has the sassiest little nano robot side kick ever.
If your still not interested in it then I don’t know what more I can do to convince you but this was fantastic and I highly recommend it for someone looking for a really well done retelling.
In The Woods by Tana French
I just realised to my demise that I haven’t shared my love for detective mysteries with you guys? I know I’m a bad book blogger, I just haven’t read many this year. In The Woods is a fantastic Detective story it was suspenseful in all the right places and I loved the misfit characters and the cop relationships.
As soon as I finished this I ordered the read of Tana French’s books because I love detective series that follow multiple characters and have cameos through out all the books. I can’t wait to read the Likeness next.
Holding up the Universe By Jennifer Niven
There was SO much controversy over this book before it was released which made me want to pick it up even more because I feel bad when books get a bad wrap because people don’t like the synopsis. This book has a self-deprecating sense of humor and the MC refers to herself in some belittling ways to make her situation easy to handle. I’ve read plenty of books with a MC that was like this and enjoyed the story and her Humor.
If you liked Jennifer Nivens first book All The Bright Places I highly recommend this one it also won’t leave you a mushy mess like ATBP did.
Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
*cue dramatic music* You know I loved this, don’t even get me started on how amazing this book is. I WILL REVIEW IT SOON AND YOU’LL BE SICK OF ALL MORE FLAILING I PROMISE. Gemina was just as good (if not better) then Illuminae. The characters, the story, oh god the ART WORK. Don’t even get me started on the incredible artwork by the insanely talented Marie Lu.
Gemina not only lived up to all my expectations but it blew them into hyper space and vacuum sucked my heart into another dimension. Bring on the third book.
Blindsighted By Karen Slaugher
Another detective story that I’ve had on my TBR for years. My Mum has been shoving Karen Slaughter books at me since I discovered I liked detective stories but I’ve always resisted them I don’t know why I just never picked them up? I’m a strange person who doesn’t listen to my TBR pile.
I really enjoyed this book and now have the next three books to devour this month. Also can we talk about how awesome the last name Slaughter is? I don’t even care if it is a pen name I love that she writes murder books. Although how awesome would it be if she wrote really mushy love stories?
Bestselling romance Author Karen Slaughter has a ring to it XD.
Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill
I went into this with lowish expectations because of who it’s by and I know I shouldn’t do that but my brain didn’t cooperate with me. I love Stephen King so to say I was weary about picking up a Horror by his Son is an understatement. I was scared it would be bad and I would compare him to his Dad but I was so wrong.
Heart Shaped Box grew on me until I loved the characters that started off as annoying and shallow. The Suspense builds and explodes and there was a lot of murder/near deaths which is what I like to see in my Horror reads.

So that was my October, I mean I also went to the Gemina launch, met up with my favourite bloggers in real life and met Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff but that’s a whole other post XD
I’m so excited that it’s November I mean it’s basically Christmas so be ready for all the Christmas delight from me because I am basically a 5 year old at this time of year.
This Christmas is the first we will be celebrating in my own house so I can not wait to decorate everything, seriously even the dogs won’t escape unchristmassed XD There will be photo’s don’t you worry.
I will also be doing NaNoWriMo AND hopefully catching up on all my blogging posts.
So basically November will be:
- Writing
- Reading
- Writing some more
- Christmasfying my life
- Writing
- and writing
Yep that about sums it up!
How was your month? What was your favourite book ? Did you read Horror as well? Are you a Christmas lover or someone who snarls at the advent Calender’s in the store? XD
Karin Slaughter is the best. I liked Blindsighted, but the first one of her other series (the one with Will Trent) is even better ❤ Great month!

Wow, loving all the Stephen King in your haul. I really want to read Under the Dome, although 1000 pages is somewhat intimidating! I also really want to read Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom as everyone seems to love them so much, but do I need to have read the Grisha trilogy first, or will it make sense without?

I’d say yes to just reading SoC, I had read the Grisha trilogy a while ago and enjoyed it but I didn’t love it as much as as I did Six of Crows also I recently lent SoC and CK to a friend who hasn’t read Grisha and she still loved the books so I’d definitely say you can read them with out reading Grisha. There are some small cameos and references that you might not understand but nothing plot wise, its set in the same world but a different part and 5 years in the future 😊
I’m loving my King haul too but my bookshelves aren’t to happy about it 😂😂 I need to find somewhere to put them all now 😆

Ahh that’s good to know! In that case, I’ll definitely be checking it out soon 🙂 And I totally hear you on the unhappy bookshelves, mine are overflowing, but it pains me to get rid of books so they will just have to deal with it! 🙂

I NEED THE LAST BOOK SO BADLY DX I can’t wait to see how this all wraps up, the plot in Gemina just stepped it up another notch that I didn’t think was possible *flails* I can’t imagine what’s in store for us for the next book.

Amanda you’re killing me! Bahaha I’d say read Illuninae first but then again SoC is finished so its that much more satisfying to read it and not have to wait a year for the next book XD
Under The Dome was huge I should just count it as 3 books instead of one 0.0
You are going to have an amazing December… Atleast I hope you love these series as much as I do 😀
