When Earth intercepts a message from a long-extinct alien race, it seems like the solution the planet has been waiting for. The Undying’s advanced technology has the potential to undo environmental damage and turn lives around, and Gaia, their former home planet, is a treasure trove waiting to be uncovered.
For Jules Addison and his fellow scholars, the discovery of an alien culture offers unprecedented opportunity for study… as long as scavengers like Amelia Radcliffe don’t loot everything first. Mia and Jules’ different reasons for smuggling themselves onto Gaia put them immediately at odds, but after escaping a dangerous confrontation with other scavvers, they form a fragile alliance.
In order to penetrate the Undying temple and reach the tech and information hidden within, the two must decode the ancient race’s secrets and survive their traps. But the more they learn about the Undying, the more their presence in the temple seems to be part of a grand design that could spell the end of the human race…
Onward if you dare
Long story short: MEAN AND AMAZING BUT MEAN BECAUSE WHY DONT I HAVE THE NEXT BOOK ALREADY *cries*
Oh pretty, shiny, twisty, ouchy, awesome book.
Unearthed is amazing as I knew it was going to be, seriously?! Alien planet, a thief, and an academic, booby-trapped temple, maths, and ancient language translations, conspiracies ready to spike you faster then the traps, a race of “people” who know impossibly too much about earth, and that ENDING.
Earth we didn’t get to see much of but we heard about, the earth is dying, the politicians are discussing instead of helping (the usual), it’s over populated, there’s not enough fresh water or supplies, basically something needs to happen and happen fast so off to a new planet to find tech that may save humanity.
Amelia – Mia – badass Blue and pink haired sneak – I love her
Jules – Genius – soft – intelligent – deeply thoughtful – I love him
Told in alternating points of view Jules and Mia save each other from being shot in the face and join forces, both using the other to get to their end goals. Mia’s quick and street smart, having grown up barely scraping by will do that to a girl. Jules is smart, sheltered, and has integrity even if it is sometimes misplaced or more often gets in the way.
It’s a survival story, it’s a mystery, it’s a journey through a new planet with two suns and structures that are not that different to our own that sucked me right in and gripped me till the end.
The ending is mean, I was so focused on the story I felt like I was booted from it abruptly WHERE’S THE NEXT BOOK I SEEM TO BE MISSING A FEW HUNDRED PAGES AHEM.
5/5 Stars
