The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James

Romy Silvers is the only surviving crew-member of a spaceship travelling to a new planet, on a mission to establish a second home for humanity amongst the stars. Alone in space, she is the loneliest girl in the universe until she hears about a new ship which has launched from Earth – with a single passenger on board. A boy called J.

Their only communication with each other is via email – and due to the distance between them, their messages take months to transmit across space. And yet Romy finds herself falling in love.

But what does Romy really know about J? And what do the mysterious messages which have started arriving from Earth really mean?

Sometimes, there’s something worse than being alone . . .

The Loneliest Girl in the Universe is so underrated!? Seriously Lunar chronicle fans you will love this. The Loneliest girl in the universe is about… well the loneliest girl. Born on a mission to a new planet her ship messed up and all the adults unfortunately died in their freezers, haunted by this ever since she has serious trauma about parts of the ship.

Romy is resourceful, she has maths, an email tutor/psychologist 6 months behind but sending constant correspondence and her fan fiction. When she hears news of another ship being launched to help her (not to bring her home but to colonize the new planet) she’s excited and feels like a weight has been lifted. When she starts speaking with this boy she feels like the connection was made to be, seriously strong and oh so compatible.
“I’ve got the half-real fear that creeps up on you in the middle of the night, making you think that there is a monster in your room.”

I thought it was space romance but oh it’s so much more

If you know me at all you know I like my plot twists unforeseen, my stabbing in abundance, and villains, esp creepy unexpected omg wtf villains are my jam – this book was made for me I swear.

Cute, Quick, Surprisingly Dark and twisty.

Have you read The Loneliest Girl? Are you going too? I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.

Thank you Walker Books for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

  1. I don’t know if it’s just my laptop but I can’t see any questions. I’ve got this one on my shelf to read and well and you’ve completely sold me. It reminds me of Across The Universe and I quite liked that one. Great review Casey, so glad you enjoyed it ❤
