Nemesis (n.)
1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.
2) A person’s undoing.
3) Joshua Templeman
Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She’s charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual.
Trapped in a shared office together forty (ok, fifty or sixty) hours a week, they’ve become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship. There’s the Staring Game. The Mirror Game. The HR Game. Lucy can’t let Joshua beat her at anything-especially when a huge new promotion goes up for the taking.
If Lucy wins this game, she’ll be Joshua’s boss. If she loses, she’ll resign. So why is she suddenly having steamy dreams about Joshua, and dressing for work like she’s got a hot date? After a perfectly innocent elevator ride ends with an earth-shattering kiss, Lucy starts to wonder whether she’s got Joshua Templeman all wrong.
The Hating Game
If you’re looking for an awesome romance PICK THIS UP! I urge you. I went into this book with low expectations, I mean girl hates boy, boy hates girl, pulls each others hair because they secretly luurrvvvvee each other, how cliché right? Well you are right but your also oh so wrong.
Guys clichés can still work I mean there’s a reason there cliches right?
This book was an unexpected burst of happiness, an awesome romance and banter, had great build up, some heart-break.
That’s all I’m really go to say plot wise about this because it’s one of those books that you need to just dive into and be swept away with the romance.
The characters:
Lucy is a little darling, mixed up with the right amount of hilarious and eccentric. She’s a ball of lovely that just makes me so happy to read about. One of my favorite characters and I’d love to talk books with her!
Also she collects Smurfs, if you guys don’t know this about me yet I COLLECT SMURFS! Anything small, blue, and smurfy *gimmy*
Josh is also a little silly darling who I wanted to shake until he stopped being an arse and came to his senses but I loved him as well and the dynamic and ‘hate’ he brought to the story was just a bunch of awesome.
This went up to my favorites shelf and I can’t wait to read it again, will be buying this as a physical copy very soon. This is Sally Thorne’s debut novel and I will be eagerly waiting for another book from her.
I smiles, I teared up, I laughed, I got angry, I felt all the bursting happiness feels. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a romance.
5/5 STARS!
Are you guys Romance fans?
I’m a mix of all genres but I can’t go past a good romance, I don’t want to compare this to CoHo because she is obviously the queen but this books really really good guys!
Thank you Netgalley, Piatkus and Sally Throne for writing, publishing, and allowing me to review this amazing book.
Solid review, thanks for taking the time to write it!

Thank you for this pingback. I thought about reading your post about why I should read Carrie…and then I realized I hate horror. This was a welcome swap. 🙂

Bahaha! I’m glad you enjoyed it, Horror is definitely a required taste, even for me when I’m not in the mood for it.
This book though is a bag of sunshine and I love it soooo much XD Planning on re-reading it soon, the main character has to be one of my favourite female leads I’ve read.
